Council on Cooperation of Belarus and Kaliningrad oblast to discuss mutual trade

The 7th session of the Belarusian-Russian council on long-term cooperation of oblasts, ministries and state bodies of the Republic of Belarus and the Kaliningrad oblast of the Russian Federation will be held in Kaliningrad on February 20.

A Belarusian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister, Co-Chairman of the Council Andrei Kobyakov has arrived in Kaliningrad to take part in the session. The Russian side will be led by Governor of the Kaliningrad oblast Georgy Boos.

The possibilities to boost the mutual trade will be high on the agenda of the session, BelTA learnt from the Kaliningrad department of the Belarusian Embassy to Russia. In 2007, the trade between Belarus and the Kaliningrad oblast made up $149, 7 million, or 5.8% up as against 2006. The sides would like to expand cooperation in the construction branch and also to increase the supplies of agricultural products, seafood and other goods. In line with the results of the session, the two sides intend to sign the plan of the joint measures for 2008.
