A meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State took place in Moscow

A meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State was held today in Moscow. Belarusian delegation was headed by Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov. The Russian side at the meeting was headed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

As Andrei Kobyakov noted during the opening of the meeting, by buying Belarusian tractors, combine harvesters, Russia supports its producers. The Prime Minister stressed that about 60% of the components in the Belarusian machinery produced in Russia. Belarus is ready to offer high quality products required subjects of the Russian Federation.

The agenda included 30 items, including some issues that are expected to further bring to the Supreme State Council of the Union State. Emphasis is placed on discussion of the problems of trade and economic cooperation, credit and investment cooperation, the formation and implementation of a coherent industrial policy. Also reviewed the implementation of joint programs, endorsed the concept of new joint projects.

One of the issues on the agenda was consideration of a plan to create a single structural policy. However, as the head of the Belarusian government noted, the implementation of such a plan is not possible without the creation of equal conditions for economic entities of the two countries.

Andrei Kobyakov mentioned that one of the objective measures of bilateral cooperation is the volume of mutual trade. Russia remains the key trade partner of Belarus. He stressed that Belarus ranks sixth place among the leading trade partners of Russia in the world and the first place - in the CIS.

The Prime Minister recalled that last year, bilateral trade amounted to nearly $ 40 billion. According to him, in the last 7 months of this year recorded a sensitive reduction of bilateral trade - by almost a quarter, which is mainly due to the deteriorating external economic environment.

In turn, Dmitry Medvedev drew attention to continue simplifying the rules for access of enterprises of Belarus and Russia to the markets of the two countries. Dmitry Medvedev noted that a claim on the matter, there are two sides.

Russian Prime Minister noted that the Belarusian and Russian companies began to make greater use of national currencies in mutual settlements, allowing economies of the two countries to be less sensitive to external influences.

"Economic relations between Belarus and Russia are comprehensive and diversified," - said Dmitry Medvedev. In particular, the bilateral implementing major investment projects, including the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant projects in high-tech industries. "But there’s still huge potential for cooperation", - he said.

In addition, according to Dmitry Medvedev, the parties need to carefully analyze the structure of trade flows. Some reduction of mutual trade turnover, he explained to both objective and subjective reasons. At the same time, the prime minister of Russia said, that if the dollar value of the Belarusian-Russian trade turnover has decreased, the ruble increased by almost 20%.

Summing up the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State for journalists, Andrei Kobyakov noted that Belarus is under competitive conditions ready to work on the program of import substitution in Russia. He stressed that Belarus can produce a number of products, primarily to the electronic component base necessary to the Russian side.

According to the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, in matters of import substitution it is necessary to go on market conditions, the fact that partners are able to offer the Eurasian Economic Union.

Talking about the signed action plan for a coordinated industrial policy of Russia and Belarus, Andrei Kobyakov assured that it will not create problems for the partners to the Eurasian Economic Union.

Andrei Kobyakov said that the EAEU has also developed a joint document on industrial policy, but it is more general. And because "two" - the locomotive of integration in the Union State more substantive areas of cooperation in the field of industry.

"There is no contradiction - said Prime Minister of Belarus. - For other countries, we are open and our three partner in EAEU can join the Belarusian-Russian joint industrial policy."

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the economies of Belarus and Russia in the industrial plan are much more closely linked historically. So then, many achievements made by Russia and Belarus to conduct a coherent industrial policy, could be used in the EAEU.

Andrei Kobyakov also said that the issue of a uniform visa Union State is perspective, and it will be discussed.
