Vasily Matyushevsky met with Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Italy Benedetto Della Vedova

First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky February 23 met with the Deputy Minister (State Secretary) of foreign Affairs and international cooperation of the Italian Republic and co-Chairman of the Belarusian-Italian intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation Benedetto Della Vedova.

During the meeting the sides discussed ways of intensifying bilateral economic sardonically, reviewed the conditions of implementation of the agreements reached earlier in the Belarusian-Italian contacts at various levels, including during the September 2015 visit to Italy, Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov.

In addition, Vasily Matyushevsky and Benedetto Della Vedova discussed the results of the first session of the Belarusian-Italian intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation held in Minsk on February 23.

"It is symbolic that Italy was the first country with which we hold the meeting of intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation after the decision of the EU about the lifting of most sanctions against Belarus, - said Vasily Matyushevsky. Now, we think we can speak of a new favorable background and build plans without regard to some artificial constraints".

First Vice Prime Minister stressed that Italy is one of the most important traditional trade partners of Belarus belongs to the group of leaders created in Belarus joint ventures. "We are an open, welcoming country. Traditionally, Belarus has no geopolitical ambitions, there is a healthy desire to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with our partners both in the East and the West," he added.

"We know that You are a consistent supporter of constructive cooperation and respectful dialogue as a tool to overcome the crisis. We would very much like to combine our efforts", - said Vasily Matyushevsky.

In his opinion, Belarusian-Italian relations have accumulated a lot of unrealized potential. "We would like to see in our economic relations there appeared more practical actions that the Italian Government gave positive signals to business circles of Italy's relationship with the Republic of Belarus", - said the First Deputy Prime Minister

Vasily Matyushevsky recalled that in 2010 an agreement was reached to create in Brest Italian industrial zone. "We have implemented all necessary actions related to creating a base for the infrastructure," he said. This project should arouse the interest of business circles of Italy.

Vasily Matyushevsky expressed the hope that the current visit of Italian delegation led by Benedetto Della Vedova will give additional impetus to bilateral economic relations between Belarus and Italy.

In turn, Benedetto Della Vedova, noted that during the day, held talks, on which the prospects of economic partnership between the two countries. He expressed the hope that the scheduled tasks on the development of bilateral relations will be realized.
