On October 24-27, 2016 the official delegation of the Republic of Belarus, headed by Deputy Prime-Minister of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Semashko, paid a working visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to take part in the 13th session of the Belarusian-Vietnamese intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation and to hold talks with Vietnamese partners.

Within the framework of the Commission on October 27, 2016 the Parties discussed the results of the implementation of agreements reached during the state visit of President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Vietnam in December 2015 as well as the ways of further development of bilateral trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, namely, establishment of joint ventures, construction of metro in Vietnam with the assistance of Belarusian specialists, measures to increase exports of Belarusian industrial goods and food commodities to Vietnam and imports of Vietnamese traditional agricultural products and rubber to Belarus. Following the mentioned above Commission, the Parties signed the Agreed minutes as well as a number of bilateral agreements and commercial contracts.

During the visit Vladimir Semashko also held meetings with Deputy Prime-Minister of Vietnam Trinh Dinh Dung and Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Tran Tuan Anh on the prospects of further development of industrial cooperation between the two countries. In the city of Hai Phong Vladimir Semashko held talks with the Chairman of People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung on the supplies of Belarusian trucks and buses for the needs of Hai Phong municipality.
