Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov took part at the board session of the Ministry of Economy. The Ministry’s work summed up in 2016 and set objectives for 2017. The implementation of the Programme of socio-economic development for 2016-2020 was also analyzed in detail.
It was noted that the main outcome of the Ministry of Economy in 2016 was the adoption of program documents for the current five-year period. Due to the first-year implementation of their provisions, complex problems were solved such as the significant slowdown in inflation (10,6 % for the year), early repayment of foreign currency obligations of the country, the growth of gold and foreign exchange reserves, lower interest rates on loans.
As the key priorities of the Ministry in 2017 were marked macroeconomic balance, the recovery of economic growth and income, creation of conditions for long-term development.
In this regard, the most important tasks of the Ministry are defined: maintaining of macroeconomic stability, improving the investment climate, creating favorable conditions for business.
In 2017 the Ministry will continue to improve the system of investment legislation, public sector management, business environment and reduce the administrative burden on business.
In the area of economic integration there is a need to continue the work of government agencies to eliminate systemic barriers, exclusions and restrictions to trade in EAEC countries.
During the board announced the transformation of the Ministry's structure and focusing on the five functional areas: macroeconomic planning and forecasting, investment activity, enterprise development, state programs coordination and regional policy.
