Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State

On June 27, 2008 a regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State was held in Moscow. Belarus has been and remains the main area of the Russian foreign policy, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Belarusian Premier Sergei Sidorsky. Vladimir Putin noted that Belarus and Russia continue working in all areas, above all, in trade and economic area, he said. Last year the Belarusian-Russian trade surged by 30% as against 2006. Over the four months this year it was up 60%. “Our efforts yield real results,” Vladimir Putin highlighted.

According to the ministry of statistics and analysis of Belarus, the capital and construction investments in Belarus totaled Br19,2 trillion in 2006, which is 31.4% more than in 2005 in comparable prices.
In 2006, GDP in Belarus grows by 9.9%
According to the Belarusian ministry of statistics and analysis, in 2006, GDP in Belarus made up Br79,2 trillion, or 9.9% up as against 2005.
Belarus GDP 9.9 per cent up to Br70.7 trillion in January-November
According to the ministry of statistics and analysis in January-November 2006, Belarus’ gross domestic product totalled Br70.7 trillion in current prices, 9.9 per cent more than a year before in comparable prices. The data take into account the changed methodology used to calculate the index of industrial volume of production.
Belarus inflation stands at 5.7 per cent in January-November
In November 2006 Belarus consumer price index of goods and services totalled 101.8 per cent as against October 2006. According to the ministry of statistics and analysis, in November the prices grew by 5.7 per cent in comparison with December 2005. In line with the 2006 national major monetary management guidelines the annual inflation is supposed to make 7-9 per cent.
Positive trends in Belarus economy key branches continue in January-October
Positive manufacturing and investment trends in key branches of the Belarusian economy continued in January-October 2006.
In January-October 2006 inflation makes 3.8 per cent in Belarus
In October this year the Consumer Price Index made in Belarus 103.8 per cent against December 2005. Prices grew in September by 0.7 per cent compared to October.
