BELARUS INVESTMENT AND ECONOMIC FORUM
Belarus Investment and Economic Forum, which became the main economic event of the year, took place in Minsk 12-13 November 2009.
Over 700 participants including more than 450 representatives from 60 countries (Russia, Germany, Great Britain, France, India, Poland, the Czech Republic, Canada, etc.) attended the Forum.
It was widely reported by about 170 national and foreign journalists from 80 print and electronic media.
The forum was held with assistance of the Government of Belarus to showcase the investment potential of the country, to enhance the positive image of Belarus as a reliable business partner, to help Belarusian companies establish direct contacts with foreign companies.
The forum was designed to draw attention of the international business community to the measures taken in Belarus to promote economic liberalization and to create favorable business and investment conditions, to assist investment cooperation between domestic and foreign companies, including by means of giving more exposure to large Belarusian business projects.
The forum focused on such issues as Belarus’ advancement to the top thirty states with best environment for doing business, the measures meant to improve the investment climate in the country, cooperation between Belarus and the EU, using the scientific and technological potential to raise investments.
Thematic roundtables and sessions highlighted privatization in Belarus, small and medium businesses in Belarus, development of the financial market, infrastructure and construction industry, free economic zones and regions of Belarus.
