Union State Council of Ministers to discuss Customs Union borders in Brest

The development of the external borders of the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan will be discussed at a session of the Union State Council of Ministers in Brest on 16 March, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky said as he met with State Secretary of the Union State Pavel Borodin on 10 March.

Measures to improve energy use in Belarus till 2012 okayed
The Belarusian Government has approved the measures meant to improve the effectiveness of using fuel and energy resources till 2012. The decision is laid down by Council of Ministers resolution No 248.
Belarus to invest Br7 trillion in energy grid modernization
This year Belarus will invest Br6.886-Br7.481 trillion in the modernization of the national energy grids, energy saving and promoting the use of local fuels. These measures are envisaged in the 2010 plan of action to the national comprehensive program to modernize key production assets of the Belarusian energy system, promote energy saving and increase the share of local fuels till 2011. The action plan was approved by Resolution No. 224 of the Council of Ministers.
Belarus to raise Br2.8 trillion for 60 investment projects in 2010
Belarus is going to raise more than Br2.764 trillion of investments, including more than Br1.406 trillion of foreign investments, to implement 60 major investment projects in 2010.
Belarus to hold 12 exhibitions abroad in 2010
The Council of Ministers of Belarus has adopted a schedule of the Republic of Belarus national exhibitions abroad for 2010.
The national action plan for the Year of Quality 2010 was approved by Government of Belarus
The national action plan for the Year of Quality 2010 was approved by Council of Ministers’ resolution No 124. The action plan includes more than 60 events covering all aspects of the social and economic development of the country.
Belarus sets out rules for allocating pork tariff quotas in 2010
The Government of Belarus has laid down the rules for allocating tariff quotas for pork import in 2010. The relevant resolution has been adopted by the Council of Ministers.
Single commodity classification of Customs Union in effect in Belarus since 1 January 2010
Since 1 January 2010 Belarus is to use the single commodity classification of the foreign economic activity of the Customs Union. It is stipulated in Resolution No. 56 adopted by the Council of Ministers of Belarus.
Belarus to invite foreign teachers to train nuclear power specialists
The salary of foreign specialists who will prepare personnel for the Belarusian nuclear power industry will be 300% of the tariff rate of the first category. This is stipulated in Resolution No. 54 of the Council of Ministers of Belarus.
Ten Belarus’ companies receive 2009 Quality Prize
Ten companies have been awarded with the 2009 Quality Prize of the Government of the Republic of Belarus. The decision was taken by the commission for prize awarding and approved by Council of Ministers’ Resolution No 19 of 11 January.
Belarus appoints bodies to license goods which export/import in Customs Union is restricted
The Government of Belarus has appointed the national bodies authorized to issue (coordinate the issuance of) licenses for the import and (or) export of goods which export/import in the Customs Union is restricted. The relevant decision is stipulated in Resolution No. 1739 adopted by the Council of Ministers.

Poland ready to become gateway for Belarus’ agriculture to EU

Poland is ready to advance the Belarusian agricultural products to the European Union, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki stated at a meeting the Agriculture ministers of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland with Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky on 6 March.

Almost Br387 billion of Belarus’ budget was injected in the state integrated program on developing regions, small and medium-sized towns in 2009, Economy Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov said at a session of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers on 2 March.

Prime Minister awards distinguished Belarusians

Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky has presented state awards to distinguished citizens of Belarus. A total of 27 people were awarded the Medal for Labor Merits, the Medal for Distinguished Military Service, the Order of Fatherland Second Class and official letters of thanks of the President.
