President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has ordered to liquidate hurricane consequences in the shortest possible time. The task was set forth during the report of Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky on July 17. According to the presidential press service, Alexander Lukashenko was informed on the work being done to liquidate the consequences of a hurricane that took place on July 13-15. The Minsk oblast, one region in the Mogilev oblast and two regions in the Brest oblast suffered from the natural calamity.

| In line with Council of Ministers’ resolution N794, the Belarusian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection and the Moldovan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources will sign a cooperation agreement. The agreement is expected to be signed in June this year. |

| On April 1, 2008, Belarus increases the crude oil export duty from $333.8 to $340.1 per tonne. The Council of Ministers issued relevant resolution No. 476 on March 28. |

| In 2008 Br3.8 trillion will be channelled into modernisation of the energy industry and energy saving in Belarus. The money is envisaged for the implementation of the state programme for modernisation of basic production assets of the Belarusian power grid, energy saving and raising the share of locally available fuel and energy resources in the total utilisation till 2011. The measures to be taken this year in order to execute the programme have been adopted by Council of Ministers resolution No 261 of February 22. |
