BELARUS’ GOVERNMENT APPROVES LOGISTICAL SUPPORT STANDARDS FOR COMMON LAW COURTS
Resolution ¹1511 of December 21, 2005 of the Council of Ministers approved the standards of the logistical support for common law courts. The document aims to create favorable conditions for implementation of justice.
According to the resolution, every court should contain a convoy room, a place for keeping property seized from the detainee and an archival depository. Besides, every court should be equipped with a local computer network, hearing rooms – with TV sets and video players.
The document envisages a car for every regional /urban/ court and a car and a minibus for the oblast and Minsk city courts; a computer and printer – for every judge and chief executor, three computers with printers – for the office and one computer – for four executors; a Xerox – for a court with 5 judges, two Xeroxes – for a court with 5-10 judges and three machines – for a court with more than 10 judges.
Besides, the government plans to build or reconstruct 40 court buildings in 2006-2015. The plan takes into account that the number of case hearing rooms should correspond to the number of judge panels.
The government commissioned the economy ministry and the finance ministry with allocating funding for the introduction of the standards while developing the state investment programme of the national budget for the next financial (budgetary) year.
