No obstacles to investments in Belaru

There are no obstacles to attracting investments in Belarus, First Deputy Economy Minister Piotr Zhabko told reporters after a session of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers on August 19. The session chaired by Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky discussed the results of the investment activity in Belarus in H1 2008. According to Piotr Zhabko, there are no economic reasons in Belarus for failing to meet the investment target which is to increase investments up as against last year.

 

BELARUSIAN GOVERNMENT OKAYS EXPORTS BOOSTING PROGRAM FOR 2006

Belarusian government has adopted the plan of actions for 2006 to implement the national exports boosting program designed for 2006-2010.

According to Resolution ¹43 of the Council of Ministers of January 13, 2006, governmental bodies, oblast executive comities, Minsk City Council and other organizations are to report to the foreign ministry on the course of implementation of the program. The reports are to be submitted quarterly until the 15th day of every month which follows the accounting month.

Similar plans of actins will be drawn up every year and brought in to the Council of Ministers for adoption.

The national exports boosting program designed for 2006-2010 was adopted by Resolution ¹1081 of September 30, 2005. It was drawn up by the foreign ministry jointly with Economics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, specialists of the National Bank, the economy ministry, oblast executive committees, the Minsk City Council and companies-exporters and is based on the analysis of implementation of the national export development program for 2000-2005. The program describes the main priorities, conditions and terms of the state support of development and encouragement of the export activities bearing in mind expansion of the European Union and forthcoming accession of Belarus to the World Trade Organization.

In particular, two export development variants are possible – base and optimistic, designed for a more favorable situation on the world market. Within the framework of the base variant export of goods is expected to make USD 25,2 billion by 2010 and grew 1,55 times; in line with the optimistic one – USD 29,1 billion (1,8 times).

Belarus, Lithuania to sign inland navigation agreement

The transport ministries of Belarus and Lithuania are set to sign an agreement to develop inland navigation. This measure is spelled out in Resolution No 1114 of the Council of Ministers of August 2, 2008.
