No obstacles to investments in Belaru

There are no obstacles to attracting investments in Belarus, First Deputy Economy Minister Piotr Zhabko told reporters after a session of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers on August 19. The session chaired by Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky discussed the results of the investment activity in Belarus in H1 2008. According to Piotr Zhabko, there are no economic reasons in Belarus for failing to meet the investment target which is to increase investments up as against last year.

 

IN 2007 BELARUS PLANS TO PRODUCE 2 THOUSAND CARS FOR DOMESTIC MARKET

In line with Council of Ministers’ Resolution #28 of January 12, 2007 “On some issues of production and supplies of import-replacing consumer goods to the internal market”, in 2007 Belarus plans to produce two thousand cars for the domestic market.

The document features the list of the import-replacing goods, which should be started to be produced by the national companies in 2007. The list was determined in line with the state import replacing program for 2006-2010. The production of consumer goods will be carried out in the framework of the sectoral and regional import replacing programs. The list includes almost 130 nonfoods and 11 food products.

The Belarusian industry ministry was entrusted with producing cars. In 2006, the assembly production of cars of the Iranian company Iran Khodro was launched in Minsk at the production facilities of the Unison company.

Moreover, in 2007 the industry ministry should start to produce a number of other goods including domestic welding apparatuses, exercise bicycles, scales, woodworking equipment, baby carriages, motor boats, DVD- players, air-conditioners and others.

According to the Resolution of the Council of Ministers, the import-replacing goods should meet the best imported analogues in terms of technical requirements, design, packaging and price.

Belarus, Lithuania to sign inland navigation agreement

The transport ministries of Belarus and Lithuania are set to sign an agreement to develop inland navigation. This measure is spelled out in Resolution No 1114 of the Council of Ministers of August 2, 2008.
