In Belarus energy industry investors will be offered taxation preferences, First Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko said at the IV international investment forum in Mogilev on October 9. In his words, the government has prepared two new energy industry bills meant to encourage investments into the industry. They grant taxation preferences for up to 7 years. Investors are expected to recoup their money within five years and use the remaining two years to develop their companies, said Vladimir Semashko.

BELARUS, MOLDOVA TO INTENSIFY COOPERATION IN ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION AREA
In line with Council of Ministers’ resolution N794, the Belarusian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection and the Moldovan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources will sign a cooperation agreement. The agreement is expected to be signed in June this year.
The agreement envisages the cooperation of both the sides in environment protection and rational use of natural resources, said Alexander Rachevsky, the head of the international cooperation department of the Belarusian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection. The ministries of the two countries intend to improve the legislations in the field of environment protection in Moldova and Belarus, to harmonize them in line with the standards of the European Union.
The Moldovan side shows a special interest in the Belarusian experience of developing the legal acts related to the Kyoto Protocol. “Belarus has set up the legal base for efficient implementation of the provisions and mechanisms of the Kyoto Protocol and we are ready to share this experience with Moldovan partners,” Alexander Rachevsky noted.
The agreement also envisages the implementation of new projects to preserve biological diversity, to study the problems on climate change, to inspect the state of water facilities, to improve the information technologies in the sphere of environment protection. Moreover, the two sides intend to share specialists, organize joint research conferences, workshops and roundtables.
The Belarusian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection constantly expands the sphere of the international cooperation. Belarus has concluded a number of intergovernmental agreements on cooperation in environment protection with the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria. The draft agreement on cooperation in this area is being prepared now between this country and Azerbaijan. “At present, we are considering the cooperation in the environment protection area with Egypt,” Alexander Rachevsky added.
