BELARUS, TURKMENISTAN TO INK EDUCATION COOPERATION AGREEMENT
Belarus and Turkmenistan plan to ink an agreement on cooperation in education, BelTA learnt from Vladimir Shapurov, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Education Ministry, as he commented on the Council of Ministers’ resolution No. 770 of June 11.
In his words, the draft document is meant to expand ties between professors, students and research officers of the two countries. “We are willing to establish mutually beneficial cooperation in education, will hold joint events, will arrange specialist exchange programmes and will build up cooperation between universities,” said the official.
Vladimir Shapurov underscored that the sides will encourage mutual participation of students in international academic competitions, contests, festivals and other events held in Belarus and Turkmenistan. Both the countries also plan to share information about procedures concerning licensing and state accreditation of professions, educational programmes and educational institutions.
The agreement is supposed to stay in effect for five years.
At present over one thousand Turkmenistan citizens use educational services provided by various Belarusian vocational schools and universities.
