 There are no obstacles to attracting investments in Belarus, First Deputy Economy Minister Piotr Zhabko told reporters after a session of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers on August 19. The session chaired by Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky discussed the results of the investment activity in Belarus in H1 2008. According to Piotr Zhabko, there are no economic reasons in Belarus for failing to meet the investment target which is to increase investments up as against last year.

GOVERNMENT APPROVES TARGETS OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FORECAST FOR 2006
The government of Belarus issued resolution ¹1566 on December 29, 2005 to approve the main targets of the socio-economic development forecast for 2006. All ministries, concerns and committees have been notified of the yearly and quarterly targets. Meeting them would allow to reach the most important parameters of the socio-economic development forecast for 2006 approved by decree ¹587 of the president of the Republic of Belarus of December 12, 2005.
In line with the resolution of the government the state government bodies, the oblast executive committee and the Minsk city council should see that the measures are taken to meet the targets in 2006. The ministries of economy, statistics and other state bodies will monitor and control the progress in meeting the yearly and quarterly targets of the socio-economic development.
As BelTA has informed earlier the list of new targets in 2006 includes the share of manufacture of new and certified products, growth in the cost of construction and assembly jobs, export and import of services.
