Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State

On June 27, 2008 a regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State was held in Moscow. Belarus has been and remains the main area of the Russian foreign policy, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Belarusian Premier Sergei Sidorsky. Vladimir Putin noted that Belarus and Russia continue working in all areas, above all, in trade and economic area, he said. Last year the Belarusian-Russian trade surged by 30% as against 2006. Over the four months this year it was up 60%. “Our efforts yield real results,” Vladimir Putin highlighted.

 
GOVERNMENT DECISIONS
Belarus, Moldova to intensify cooperation in environment protection area
In line with Council of Ministers’ resolution N794, the Belarusian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection and the Moldovan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources will sign a cooperation agreement. The agreement is expected to be signed in June this year.
Belarus increases oil export duty April 1
On April 1, 2008, Belarus increases the crude oil export duty from $333.8 to $340.1 per tonne. The Council of Ministers issued relevant resolution No. 476 on March 28.
Belarus to provide humanitarian aid to Tajikistan
Belarus will provide humanitarian aid to Tajikistan. The Council of Ministers of Belarus passed relevant Resolution No. 430.
Council of Ministers approves employment assistance programme for 2008
The Government has approved the employment assistance programme of the Republic of Belarus for 2008. The relevant decision is stipulated in No.314 Resolution of the Council of Ministers.

In January-February 2007, capital and construction investments in Belarus amounted to Br2,537 trillion, having increased in comparable prices by 33.7%,as against same time last year, learnt in the Ministry of statistics and analysis.
