    Some 12 canning plants to be launched in Belarus in 2008

    In 2008, some 12 canning plants will be launched in Belarus, Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky told the session of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers which discussed the implementation of the programme on development of preserved fruits and vegetables production in Belarus for the period to 2010.

    Br3.8 trillion for modernisation of Belarusian power grid, energy saving in 2008

    In 2008 Br3.8 trillion will be channelled into modernisation of the energy industry and energy saving in Belarus. The money is envisaged for the implementation of the state programme for modernisation of basic production assets of the Belarusian power grid, energy saving and raising the share of locally available fuel and energy resources in the total utilisation till 2011. The measures to be taken this year in order to execute the programme have been adopted by Council of Ministers resolution No 261 of February 22.

    Belarus, Kaliningrad oblast trade may hit $170 ml in 2008

    In 2008, the trade between Belarus and the Kaliningrad oblast of the Russian Federation may hit $170 million, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov noted summing up the results of the 7th session of the council on long-term cooperation of oblasts, ministries and governmental departments of the Republic of Belarus and the Kaliningrad oblast of the Russian Federation. The session was held in Kaliningrad in February 20.
