IMF approves of Belarus’ currency policy

The IMF advises Belarus against changing the foreign exchange policy and against another devaluation of the Belarusian ruble, Marek Belka, Director of the IMF’s European Department, told media in Minsk on 26 August.

 
Belarus government to provide guarantees for paying out Japanese loan

The Belarusian government will provide guarantees to pay out a JPY3 billion loan (around Br89.9 billion according to the effective exchange rate) to Japan Bank for International Cooperation. The loan is issued to the Svetlogorsk-based company Khimvolokno for an investment project meant to increase the company’s output. The decision is laid down by the Council of Ministers’ resolution No. 1084.

Customs Union’s legislation to govern common customs area

The common customs area of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan will be governed by the Customs Code of the Customs Union rather than by the national laws of the three countries. Such conceptual approach was approved at a session of the Commission of the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan in Moscow on 12 August, Andrei Kobyakov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, told reporters following a session of the Commission of the Customs Union in Moscow on 12 August.

The Council of Ministers of Belarus has approved the framework intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Ukraine on cooperation in peaceful use of outer space.
