The main purpose of the innovative activities of the Ministry of Information is the development of the segments related to the up-to-date methods for audio-visual information collection, processing, transfer and use, of the cable and space television, electronic mass media and conventional trends as well.

The development of educational and cultural-related information available for the people what will promote the preservation of the cultural and historical wealth of the Belarusian people is the priority.

The efficiency of the industry entities will be increased in future by means of the modernization of the facilities available, application of the innovative technologies. In accordance with the Program for Development of Press and Mass Media for 2006-2010, in particular, for development of up-to-date (new and high) technologies it is planned:

in BELSOYUZPECHAT Unitary Enterprise, SOYUZPECHAT regional entities - to develop and apply the automated identification system for the goods sold, to arrange the appropriate working places in the system sales outlets. This will give the opportunity to analyze the sales promptly, to increase the sale efficiency essentially, to increase the goods turnover;

in Printing Centre named after Ya. Kolas OJSC - to apply the new technologies and equipment for book product manufacture with the aim to improve the quality of the products, decrease the costs of manufacture, to enlarge the production volume for 25-30 per cent;

in KRASNAYA ZVEZDA OJSC - to start-up the equipment for production of the Braille books this will enable to implement the State Program for Rehabilitation of Blind Handicapped Persons as regards the specialized literature printing;

in National Book Chamber of Belarus, State Institution - to make the state bibliographic information system allowing to make the electronic registration system for all types of printed articles and publications, to ensure the maximal full access for the native and foreign users of the state bibliographic and statistical electronic information;

The Publishing House VYSHEYSHAYA SHKOLA, Unitary Enterprise will make the national system of electronic book-publishing including the development of the concept, regulatory legal basis, electronic edition release, in order to allow the demand for such type of products in full.

The total extent of financing for building of new productions in the existing enterprises and modernization of the existing productions in 2007 - 2010 will amount to 52,961.0 million rubles, including the budget of the Republic of Belarus - 23,445.0 million rubles, local budget - 1,700 million rubles, bank credits - 5,330 million rubles, loans, borrowed money - 1,355.0 million rubles, others - 21,131.0 million rubles.
