Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin has signed a resolution to regulate administrative procedures for genetic resources.
The resolution has been prepared in furtherance of the Law “On Genetic Resources Management” of 5 March 2024 (No. 356-Z) and Presidential Decree No. 5 “On Amendments to Presidential Decrees Concerning the Implementation of Administrative Procedures” of 9 January 2026.
The resolution introduces two new administrative procedures for economic entities: granting access to genetic resources and changing the terms of that access. The rules apply to both economic entities and individuals.
The National Coordination Center on Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit Sharing shall carry out these administrative procedures. The center is based at the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
