Belarus expects to boost trade with Uzbekistan to $2 billion by 2030, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said during a meeting with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov on 24 February.
“Undoubtedly, Uzbekistan is one of our key partners in Central Asia and beyond. The foundation of the high level of bilateral interaction is the trusting dialogue between our Heads of state, who have developed warm friendly relations. The key tasks for the Government are not only monitoring and control over the implementation of already reached agreements, but also the progressive generation and implementation of new initiatives, including the upcoming meeting at the highest level this year,” Aleksandr Turchin said.
It is planned to prepare a bilateral cooperation roadmap ahead of the upcoming visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus. “We set an ambitious goal to achieve $2 billion in trade by 2030. We are committed to fruitful work and open dialogue. We already have nearly $1 billion in trade, which indicates the high potential of our economies. A number of large-scale projects are being implemented,” the Prime Minister noted.
