Belarus and Tanzania are interested in strengthening bilateral relations

A Tanzanian delegation visited the Government House on 20 January. The meeting with the foreign guests was conducted by Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich.

The negotiations confirmed mutual interest in further intensifying bilateral relations. As it was noted during the meeting, similar political views and complementary economies create a strong foundation for expanding constructive dialogue between the countries, which has significantly intensified lately. Both sides are interested in furthering the cooperation.

This visit is a continuation of the dynamic political exchange. A reminder, in July 2025, Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa paid an official visit to Belarus. At that time, the heads of government of the two countries outlined joint steps to develop political and interagency dialogue and discussed ways to expand bilateral trade and cooperation in the field of food security.

The Belarusian side anticipates continuity in approaches to cooperation and productive work with Tanzania's new government, formed in November 2025 following the country's general elections. The focus of cooperation is on practical projects. Tanzania is actively developing its own economy and implementing large-scale infrastructure projects in transportation, agriculture, medicine, and education. Belarusian expertise and technologies in agricultural mechanization, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, education, science, and other fields can contribute to the Tanzanian government's goals for national development.

During the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to consistently strengthening the foundations of mutual friendship and mutually beneficial partnership, and to exploring new areas of cooperation that align with the interests of both countries.

Following the negotiations, an agreement on the supply of a wide range of Belarusian products to Tanzania was signed.
