Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko spoke about the economic aspects of the work of the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation (BNBC) after a conference hosted by the Head of state to discuss the enterprise’s development.
“The state has had to rehabilitate this enterprise several times. But the economic issues that existed at the BNBC have been resolved. State support and the decisions taken by the Government made it possible to correctly invest credit money so that the enterprise could operate and meet its obligations,” said Yuri Shuleiko. “The production program is being structured in such a way as to definitely honor the liabilities that the enterprise has.”
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that additional support had been requested from the Head of state, but this is not related to the current state of affairs at the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation. Prospects of the enterprise’s further development are under consideration. “This will be aimed at modernization, improvement, and expansion of the product range by leveraging the enterprise’s existing base,” he emphasized.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, documents still need to be prepared to obtain these funds: “The Head of state will either support it or will not support [the allocation of funds]. But there is a high probability that he will support it.”
Yuri Shuleiko called the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation an ambitious enterprise on a national scale. The BNBC started making the first product lines in 2022 immediately after the enterprise was launched. Nevertheless, the Deputy Prime Minister noted, biotechnologies constantly evolve, this is why domestic specialists improve their skills and seek new approaches in their work. “The conference also touched upon the future of the BNBC. We are thinking very seriously about this project. This is another step into the future for our country,” he is convinced.
