More than 40 students, winners of international Olympiads from across the country, met with Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Natalya Petkevich at the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone.
Attending the event were school students and first-year university students, 17 teachers who prepare Belarusian teams for participation in international subject Olympiads, and also heads of general secondary education institutions whose students won gold medals at international Olympiads in 2025.
“Our head of state says our country has many important traditions. Let’s start a new tradition today: to meet annually with our nation's brightest and most talented youth, to tell them just how valued and essential they are. To say it explicitly, because a great deal of work is being done so that you can feel it. There is the Belarus President’s Fund to support gifted students, presidential scholarships, social support measures, a database of gifted youth, special admission conditions for universities, and so on. Everyone sees you, values you, and eagerly awaits you in the Belarusian economy. You bring glory to our state. Each of your medals and every diploma is a source of national joy and pride,” Natalya Petkevich said welcoming the meeting’s participants.
The deputy prime minister noted that much is being done in the country to develop the education system and higher education in particular. “We are training specialists not only in traditional fields but also in professions of the future. The knowledge economy, which is proclaimed as a development goal in our country, certainly needs you - the young and gifted. You are the future. You will take our country into your hands, develop it, govern it, build the economy, the social sector. You should know that everything is being done so that you can realize your potential in your homeland,” she emphasized.
At the event, four teachers who prepared the international Olympiad winners were awarded the Prime Minister’s letters of commendation. Teachers also received letters of commendations from the education minister. Furthermore, five heads of general secondary education institutions, whose students won gold medals at international Olympiads in 2025, were presented with certificates.
In 2025, 72 representatives of Belarus participated in 14 international Olympiads. They won 60 medals, including seven gold, 27 silver, and 26 bronze.
