Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin outlined the areas where he sees potential for economic growth as he addressed a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Moscow.
“First is industrial cooperation and joint innovative projects, which will ensure added value, utilization of production capacities, economic returns on invested funds, the ability to invest in new projects and import independence and technological sovereignty. The ultimate goal is national security and the growth of the people's prosperity,” Aleksandr Turchin said.
He noted that to advance this cooperation, the parties are considering two interconnected and strategically important documents: one on recognizing the products of enterprises from the two countries as goods of the Union State, and the other on establishing a committee for standardization and quality of the Union State.
“Their key task is to protect the Union State market and make the products more competitive. In the context of aggressive competition, it is the trend towards quality that becomes decisive at all levels. The Belarusian President places enormous emphasis on quality: we have a five-year plan for quality, and we have revived the State Quality Mark. We very much hope that the documents being adopted will allow us to reach a new level of cooperation within the Union State, build constructive work on the common market, and eliminate duplicating and redundant production capacities,” the Prime Minister noted.
“Second is digital transformation. It contributes to the alignment of institutional conditions for interaction between business entities, investors, and the state. In this regard, it is fundamentally important to accelerate as much as possible and complete the implementation of measures for the recognition of electronic digital signatures in electronic documents during cross-border information interaction," the Prime Minister emphasized.
“Third is small and medium-sized business. This area is very closely interconnected with the previous one. Work is continuing in the Republic of Belarus to create an information system - a digital platform for small and medium-sized enterprises. As we create it we will get it progressively integrated with the digital services and databases from the digital platform for SMEs in the Russian Federation,” Aleksandr Turchin added.
